Oslo - Stavanger - Oslo
It was very difficult to hitch outside of Oslo. We camped the day before in a park in the outskirts of Oslo. A fox visited us at night and the next morning the ducks were asking for food. We changed cars every 20 km. We ended up stuck and had to camp. The next day we got as far as Sandnes, stayed a night at a couchsurfer place. Then hitched to Prekestolen. A tourist place but it seemed like the easier option for hiking. The last car we hitched had a German student who rented a car and was visiting friends. He hiked with us and we ended riding with him back to Oslo.
Me being clumsy, I slipped a lot and ended up falling and I think I hit my head coz I was dizzy on the way back. And Kristian's 200 km/h driving on a mountain road made it even worse.
Lin was the first driver who stopped for us from Oslo and drove us all the way to Drammen. She even gave us her brother's contact in Trondheim.
Asbjorn, King of Bears, drove us to Hokksund. He's a jazz musician and his daughter is hitchhiking in Italy. That's why he picks up hitchhikers, he wants good karma for his daughter as well. He also told us that we made his day. We helped to change his mood. It made me realize something. I started thinking that I'm not actually doing anything for those generous people. But yet, company and even an empty conversation can lift someones mood and they can for a short while forget about their daily lives.
Here Norway started opening up to breath taking scenes. I was really ready to cry at any moment. I did doze off a bit. I tried hard to not miss a scene but I couldn't.
John, though spoke but little had the kindest eyes I've ever seen. He drove us to Nottoden.
These small storage houses, though this one is not a good example, reminded me of Baba Ega's (the Russian witch in kids' stories) house. It felt as if at any moment the house gonna grow legs and start walking. We saw isolated houses everywhere on the road. And I imagined myself living there with nothing but the mountains around me.
Sabrina was getting her lunch when she saw us. She said we were on her way but I'm pretty sure she just drove us this far out of generosity. We talked a lot about anime, troll stories and her art school. She's also a dreamer. And dreamers never grow old!
Marious and Perr, Old friends who took some time off and decided to go hiking. Intelligent and funny men. Marious was driving a car he bought when his wife gave birth to their daughter, so he decided to keep it and give it to her when she grows up. Maybe let the people who rode it to write her notes in the car.
I don't know how to explain it. But I could tell from the type of conversation people choose if we're going to be good friends or not. And I sent out a wish to meet a life partner just like these two guys.
Wes! He's a Polish guy with sharp facial features just like Germans. But with a better sense of humor! This tattoo was from his trip to Thailand and I ended up getting a souvenir from there too!
Veronica! Her story touched me. She drove us all the way to the ferry, although again, it wasn't on her way!
A couple whose love is so big, it overspills and touches you.
Chris, so ambitious and goal oriented! Afraid of heights but flies planes as a hobby!
I've never had a ride with an old person before. Rudolph was not your typical Scandinavian elderly. He also drove us out of his way!
I LOVE the small stories that comes with the pictures. Makes me want to know Moore about them!
